“Musical Theatre Market” – FarGo Village, Coventry

For the third year running, the Musical Theatre Market returns, the UK’s first and only craft market all themed around musical theatre. Packed with vendors of all kinds, and accompanied by musical performances throughout the day, this was an excellent opportunity for fans of musical theatre to get together, share their musical interest and purchase some excellent goodies and mementos.

For fans of pin badges and stickers, there were plenty to choose from, with Musical Theatre Pins offering great variety featuring all your favourite quotes from a mix of popular and more niche musicals, whilst Skaro Crafts had new sticker designs from shows such as ‘Come From Away’ and ‘Waitress’, perfect for all your scrapbooking needs. Wooden pin badges were available courtesy of Sophira Lou.

Speaking of scrap booking, Letters to July were showing off their new books based on “Mean Girls” burn book, as well as different Washi Tape designs to really make your journaling come to life. Long Liv Curiosity had stickers inspired by the original West End cast of Hadestown, and Encore Prints were selling musical inspired train tickets and printed track lists which make excellent mementos of your favourite shows.

Pops and Pieces were showing off Funko Pop designs based on Six, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Hadestown, whilst Hello You Handmade Co had an excellent musical-inspired jigsaw for sale. Eve Leoni Arts was also selling jigsaws, although it was the tea towels that caught my eye, as I treated myself to a design featuring a map of West End theatres, to help me keep track of which theatres I am yet to visit.

I also made sure to pick up the new design of Page to Page Creations “100 Musicals to see live” poster. Amelia Stitches was showing off some excellent Six-inspired embroidery kits, perfect for beginners, and Encore Gifts were selling earrings in the style of Broadway Playbills.

Outside in the bar area, musical performances came courtesy of CN Live Productions, with performances from West Side Story, Les Miserables and Hamilton, before they handed the stage over to Open Mic performers, with excellent renditions of songs from Matilda and Wicked. I was also introduced to a new musical that I hadn’t heard of before (Songs for a New World), whilst it was great to see a song from album musical EPIC performed live.

This was an excellent event – the room was packed, with an excellent atmosphere and a clear appreciation of the talent on display from both creators and performers. A perfect opportunity to meet other people just as obsessed with musicals as I am! I very much hope this event returns next year.
