Opening in 2009, Derby Theatre, situated within the Derbion shopping centre, plays host to a mix of touring shows, ‘Made at Derby’ productions and amateur theatre.
Seating: Derby Theatre seats just over 500 people in its main auditorium. The seats are all on the same level, with a fairly steep rake, meaning that it is easy to see over the heads of the people in front. The leg room in this theatre is excellent – one of the best in the East Midlands, in my opinion.
Derby Theatre also has a 100-seat studio theatre, accessible from the car park. The studio theatre plays host to a range of productions from local professional and amateur groups, as well as student productions.
Parking: Travelling by car has never been easier – the parking at Derbion Shopping Centre is perfectly situated and is relatively cheap. If you’re travelling by bus, you’ll want to get off at Derby Bus Station, around a 5 minute walk from the theatre.
