Henry V - RSC Rapid Review ★★★☆☆ Macbeth is given a future dystopian slant in this new production at Derby Theatre. This production finds heart amidst the brutality, as Macbeth strives to realise the prophecies of three witches whilst also coping with the death of his child. Taking place in The People's Hall, Chronic Insanity's "Apple of Discord" sees the wedding of Peleus and Thetis crashed by Eris, who causes mayhem with the offer of a golden apple to the fairest of the Greek Gods. This immersive piece sees audience members explore the hall at their leisure to see which God will be awarded this infamous fruit. This is unlike anything I - and dare I say, most people in Nottingham - have ever experienced before. What's on this week across the East Midlands 30th Mar - 5th Apr: The RSC's Henry V reunites Alfred Enoch with director Tamara Harvey for a production that focuses on the cost of war, underplaying the rousing speeches and instead hammering home the dangers of battle and the loss of innocence. The heat is on in Saigon, as the touring production arrives in Nottingham. Telling the story of Kim, a young Vietnamese girl who falls in love with an American GI during the 1970s, this musical is high in drama, high in romance and the highest in musical talent. ITV's Midsomer Murders receives a stage adaptation with The Killings at Badger's Drift. Filled with eccentric, oddball suspects, this play proves to be fun, frivolous and incredibly clever - although occasionally strays into more absurd territory... What's on this week across the East Midlands 23rd - 29th Mar: "Punch" returns to its home town of Nottingham, telling the moving true story of Jacob Dunne, who kills James Hodgkinson with a single punch. Through the help of the restorative justice scheme, and James' parents, Jacob is able to turn his life around and teach others about the dangers posed by a single punch.
