One of the newest theatres in the East Midlands, opened in 2008, Leicester Curve hosts both touring productions and produces its own theatre with artistic director Nikolai Foster at the helm.
Seating: Curve Theatre seats 960 people, across two tiers. The stage at Curve is incredibly wide, meaning the theatre doesn’t go back as far as lots of other theatres do – even from the back of the stalls, you’ll still likely have a decent view. Ample leg room throughout, even on the front row of the circle.
The Studio Theatre seats just shy of 300 people, and regularly hosts smaller productions including amateur groups. Again, decent views and leg room throughout this space.
Parking: The NCP Rutland Centre car park is right next door. You can validate your parking ticket at the box office to get cheaper parking and avoid having to queue for the ticket machine at the end of the show – although traffic lights on Rutland Street often result in traffic backing up into the car park, particularly after a busy show, meaning it can sometimes take around 20 minutes to get out of the car park. If you don’t mind a walk, the Highcross John Lewis Car Park is much cheaper, but is about a 15 minute walk away. If you’re on the bus, you’ll want to be getting off near Charles Street, Humberstone Gate or at Haymarket Bus Station.
