Broken Legs Blog is a 100% not-for-profit theatre blog. It started as an opportunity for me to keep a record of every theatre show that I see. I love theatre – and I see lots of it! This blog gives me a chance to bring together photos from the shows that I’ve seen, and write down a few thoughts to remember them by.
The original intention was for no one else to read these blogs – but steadily, over time, my audience has started to grow. Which is great – I’m very grateful that people find my opinions valuable and want to hear more from me. But it should be stated that everything written in my blog posts are purely my opinions – other people may feel differently about the show, and that’s absolutely fine. I also don’t wish to upset anyone with any of the content of my posts – if you have any concerns with anything I write in my reviews, please do not hesitate to contact me.
About me
I have been into theatre as long as I can remember, both on and off the stage. By day, I am a data analyst for the Department for Education – but most evenings, I can be found in some theatrical setting, whether that be watching professional shows, amateur shows, rehearsing for an upcoming production or acting in an improv show.
I have been part of many amateur theatre groups – the Felley Players from 2012 – 14, the Lovelace Theatre Group from 2011 – 18, and am currently part of Derby Shakespeare Company (since 2024) and the Nottingham Rebels (since 2022).
In 2018, I co-founded the Elemental Theatre Company (ETC) with my friend Tom Stevenson, and together we produced six shows (including an online murder mystery during lockdown, which raised over £2000 for charity). I parted ways with ETC in 2022 to pursue other interests, but the group are still going strong and I hope to feature many reviews for them on this site in future.

In 2016, I was lucky enough to act with the Royal Shakespeare Company in their production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, where I received a full year of training from RSC practitioners in voice and movement. This culminated in a week of performances at the Theatre Royal Nottingham, followed by a short run at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

From 2022-24, I was part of the Nottingham Playhouse’s Improvised Comedy “Makin’ It Up” group, and have performed at the Robin Hood International Improv festival in 2023 and 2024, as well as taking part in regular Loose Goose improv nights.
